AI in Practice: AI in Production – Readiness, Reality and Risk Organized by IEEE Charlotte Section Date: Thursday, October 15, 2026 Time: 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM Eastern Time Format: Virtual Roundtable Discussion Event Description Artificial Intelligence is rapidly moving beyond experimentation and proof-of-concept demonstrations into mission-critical enterprise applications. However, successfully deploying AI in production requires more than advanced models and algorithms. Organizations must address operational readiness, scalability, reliability, cybersecurity, governance, and the emerging complexities of autonomous AI agents. Join the IEEE Charlotte Section for the inaugural session of our "AI in Practice" Roundtable Series, bringing together distinguished industry leaders to explore the practical realities of implementing and operating AI systems at enterprise scale. "AI in Production: Readiness, Reality and Risk" will feature an interactive, moderated discussion focused on real-world experiences, technical challenges, lessons learned, and emerging best practices in production AI deployments. Key Discussion Topics - Organizational Readiness: Preparing teams, processes, and infrastructure for enterprise AI adoption. - From Pilots to Production: Overcoming challenges in scaling AI solutions beyond proof-of-concept implementations. - Reliability and Operations: Ensuring performance, observability, scalability, and operational resilience in AI-powered systems. - Cybersecurity and Risk: Addressing security vulnerabilities, data protection, and risks introduced by autonomous AI agents. - AI Governance and Accountability: Establishing responsible practices, oversight, and controls for production AI systems. - Lessons from Industry: Understanding practical successes, failures, and strategies for sustainable AI adoption. Moderator Anudeep Katangoori Engineering Manager of DATA AI Platform, Swift Transportation Distinguished Panelists Harish Vummethala Senior AI Product Manager, Corning Incorporated Anthony Laforte Cybersecurity Leader, Dun & Bradstreet Prudhvi Kakani Executive Director – SRE & Platform Engineering, Wells Fargo Harini Mohanasundaram SVP – Data Engineering & Agentic Solutions, Moody's Ratings Who Should Attend? This event is open to IEEE members and non-members, including engineers, software developers, AI/ML practitioners, cybersecurity professionals, technology leaders, researchers, faculty, and students interested in understanding the challenges and opportunities of deploying AI in real-world production environments. Event Format This one-hour virtual roundtable will feature a moderated discussion among industry experts, followed by audience questions as time permits. The session will emphasize practical experience and knowledge sharing rather than product demonstrations or commercial presentations. Join us for an insightful conversation on what it truly takes to make AI production-ready, reliable, secure, and responsible. IEEE membership is not required to attend. TBD Power system models are essential for planning, analysis, and operational studies, but a model that reproduces a measured response is not necessarily a meaningful model. This presentation examines what makes a power system model meaningful in practice, drawing on extensive experience in model development, parameterization, validation, field testing, and application of generic and vendor-specific models. The presentation will discuss the role of models, the information they can reliably represent, and their inherent limitations. It will also consider how modeling objectives, available data, model structure, and parameter uncertainty affect the interpretation and use of simulation results. Examples from generation, inverter-based resources, and transmission systems will illustrate why meaningful modeling requires more than simply matching measurements. Co-sponsored by: University of California, Riverside Speaker(s): Dr. Pouyan Poubeik (IEEE Fellow), Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/579515 |
