About IEEE
IEEE is the world’s largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. IEEE and its members inspire a global community through IEEE’s highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities.
IEEE, pronounced “Eye-triple-E,” stands for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. The association is chartered under this name and it is the full legal name. To learn more about the association’s name, for more information please read the History of IEEE.
Chattanooga IEEE Section
The Chattanooga section of the IEEE is comprised of over 300 area engineers and technicians from the Chattanooga area (see Home page for listing of counties covered). The section supports its members and the electrical engineering profession by (1) providing technical programs and educational activities focusing on what is changing in the electrical industry, (2) promoting the electrical engineering profession in the community, and (3) supporting Engineer’s Week activities. Student IEEE branches are at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and Chattanooga State Technical Community College.
Chattanooga Power and Energy Society Chapter
The Chattanooga PES chapter is comprised of local IEEE members with an interest in electric power generation, transmission, and distribution.
