Renewable generation, battery energy storage, power-electronic loads, data centers, electric transportation, and other converter-interfaced technologies introduce new challenges related to system stability, protection, power quality, harmonics, modeling, controls, and grid integration. The IEEE Eastern North Carolina Section Power & Energy Society (PES) Chapter invites you to a technical session featuring Dr. Damir Novosel, CEO and Co-Founder of Dash Power Partners and former IEEE Power & Energy Society President. The presentation will examine key technical and operational challenges associated with increasing penetration of inverter-based technologies and discuss practical approaches for maintaining a reliable, resilient, and secure power grid. Topics will include the changing characteristics of power systems with reduced synchronous generation, interactions between inverter controls and the grid, protection and stability concerns, and emerging approaches for integrating inverter-based resources and loads. The session will provide perspectives relevant to practicing engineers, researchers, utility professionals, consultants, students, and anyone interested in the evolution of modern electric power systems.
