2022 IEEE PES DAY BY EAST TENNESSEE PELS/PES JOINT CHAPTER: Modeling and Control of Grid Forming Inverters for Large System Studies

April 20, 2022 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Abstract: With increase percentage of inverters in the power system, the topic of grid forming inverters is becoming more popular. This presentation will provide details on characteristics of grid forming inverters, ways to model them across different simulation domains, understanding the stability of these resources and conceptual similarities across different types of grid forming controls, and observing applications under different scenarios. Bio: Deepak Ramasubramanian is a Technical Leader at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). He joined EPRI in 2017 after obtaining his Ph.D. degree from Arizona State University and his Master degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in 2013. His research work is in the field of modeling and control of large power systems with high percentage of inverter based generation and load. PDH credits are available at a fee of $5. Fee is not mandatory if participants are not interested in PDH credits. Knoxville, Tennessee, United States, Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/311804
