Almost 25 years ago, he and his family moved to Knoxville where he accepted a position at Philips Consumer Electronics. Since then, he has worked at several area companies, and even started his own company. Currently, he is a Sr. HW Design Engineer at FLIR Systems in Oak Ridge. Dr. Hector J. Santos-Villalobos is a Senior R&D Staff at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and a Senior IEEE member. He is leader of the Multi-Modal Analytics & Architectures Group in the National Security Sciences Directorate at ORNL.\u00a0 He received B.S. and M.S. degrees in 2003 and 2005, respectively, from the Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering at the University of Puerto Rico\u2014Mayaguez. In 2010, he received a Ph.D. from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University and right after, he joined ORNL\u2019s Imaging, Signals, and Machine Learning Group group as a post doctorate student. In 2011, he was one of the recipients of the JIST & JEI Itek Award for an outstanding and original research publication on imaging science and engineering concerning his doctorate work. During his time at ORNL, he has worked on a variety of imaging modalities with a common goal of developing capabilities and a reputation for computational imaging and identity sciences at ORNL.\u00a0 Key project areas include biometrics, coded aperture, light field, and elastic ultrasound imaging. J.D. Readle obtained his BS, MS, and PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His graduate work focused on lasers and optical spectroscopy. He moved to the Knoxville area for a postdoc position at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. There he studied laser ablation and non-equilibrium synthesis of nano-materials. Afterward, he transitioned to industry where he has worked in various R&D environments with a focus on nuclear and optical spectroscopy, data analysis, and instrumentation development. Alex Melin earned his M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Missouri in 2003 and his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tennessee in 2008. He has been a member of IEEE for 6 years and a member of the IEEE Control Systems Society for 3 years. He has been a researcher at Oak Ridge National Laboratory since 2010 where he has worked on the development of high-temperature magnetic bearings for molten salt reactors, cyber-physical security, power grid control and optimization, and other projects developing and applying advanced control theory to a wide range of energy and manufacturing applications.
