Felix Liang is a R&amp;D scientist at FLIR Systems. He received his PhD from the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Stony Brook University and became a postdoctoral research associate in the Nuclear Physics Lab at the University of Washington. His current research focuses on developing radiation detectors for handheld instruments and unmanned vehicles, characterizing new detector materials, and refining radionuclide identification algorithms. Prior to joining FLIR, he was a research staff in the Holifield Radioactive Ion Beam Facility at Oak Ridge National Lab. During that time, he worked on experiments exploring nuclear reaction and structure physics and ion beam transport. He also worked on nuclear security projects such as coded-aperture imaging and active interrogation with fast neutrons. Santos-Villalobos is a Senior R&amp;D Staff at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and a Senior IEEE member. He is leader of the Multi-Modal Analytics &amp; Architectures Group in the National Security Sciences Directorate at ORNL.\u00a0 He received B.S. and M.S. degrees in 2003 and 2005, respectively, from the Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering at the University of Puerto Rico\u2014Mayaguez. In 2010, he received a Ph.D. from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University and right after, he joined ORNL\u2019s Imaging, Signals, and Machine Learning Group group as a post doctorate student. In 2011, he was one of the recipients of the JIST &amp; JEI Itek Award for an outstanding and original research publication on imaging science and engineering concerning his doctorate work. During his time at ORNL, he has worked on a variety of imaging modalities with a common goal of developing capabilities and a reputation for computational imaging and identity sciences at ORNL.\u00a0 Key project areas include biometrics, coded aperture, light field, and elastic ultrasound imaging.
