On Wednesday evening, 08/12/26, the FWCS PACE group held the “AI Job Hunting – Let The Robots Do Your Work!” event.

This event was well attended. Dr. Jim Anderson presented how modern AI tools can assist an engineer when they are undertaking their next job search task. The presentation started off with exploring how AI tools can help based on a person’s work history to discover what set of skills they will be bringing to their next job. The discussion then went on to explore how a job searcher could identify jobs that interest them. Once they had a job description, it was demonstrated that they could then use AI to compare what the company is looking for with their past job experiences in order to determine if it was worth their time moving forward.

Dr. Anderson pointed out that a resume is really just a blank template. Every time a job seeker applies for a position they need to customize it for that job. Although this sounds like a lot of work, with the help of AI tools it can actually go quite quickly.

The presentation wrapped up with an example of how an AI tool can perform a mock interview session with a job seeker in order to help them to prepare for a real interview.
