Our mission is to support the professional development of our members and to foster meaningful engagement among professionals, researchers, and students in the region. Through collaborative activities, technical events, and knowledge sharing, we aim to strengthen our community and advance the fields of Power Electronics and Power & Energy Systems.

We envision a chapter that drives innovation and creativity, enabling impactful solutions that benefit humanity. By connecting diverse expertise and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, we aspire to position our region as a source of transformative ideas in power and energy technologies.
Membership
Membership in the IEEE PELS & PES Joint Chapter is open to all IEEE members in our region who are passionate about advancing technology for the betterment of society.
Non-members are warmly welcome to engage with our events and initiatives, and are encouraged to become IEEE members to enjoy the full range of professional and networking benefits our chapter offers.

Meet our new logo!
The IEEE East Tennessee PELS & PES Joint Chapter logo represents the unique identity of our region and the collaboration between two dynamic IEEE societies — the Power Electronics Society (PELS) and the Power & Energy Society (PES).
At the heart of the design is a tribute to Tennessee, featuring elements inspired by the Tennessee state flag. The three stars symbolize the three grand divisions of Tennessee — East, Middle, and West — reflecting unity across our diverse region.
The mountain silhouette captures the natural beauty of East Tennessee, home to the Great Smoky Mountains and a symbol of strength, stability, and the enduring spirit of innovation that defines our community.
Finally, the inclusion of the PELS and PES logos highlights our joint mission: to advance knowledge and collaboration in power electronics and power and energy systems, fostering technological progress that benefits both industry and society.
Together, these elements express who we are — a chapter rooted in our local identity, inspired by our environment, and dedicated to powering a sustainable and connected future.
