Mr. Thomas Field

2026 Chair, IEEE Mississippi Section

Dear IEEE Mississippi Section Members,

As chair of the IEEE Mississippi Section for 2025 and 2026, one of my goals was to return the section to a Pre-Covid posture where meetings were held in person. In 2025, all of the section meetings were held in person. The local in person meetings provide an opportunity for our members to network, enjoy some food, and discussions that do not occur on a web only meeting. I believe that we have successfully returned to in-person meetings and I hope you will join us in attending the meetings.

In 2026, we held the first PACE professional development day since prior to Covid. This event was an in person event that we used to have annually to provide technical and ethics presentations for our professional engineers. The event this year was very successful and should continue in the future.

As you may have noticed on the IEEE Mississippi Section website, this is the 75th anniversary of the section. We are working on an event in the fall to recognize this significant milestone for the section. I hope you will be able to participate in this event.

If you have looked at the website, you will probably notice a lot of changes. This is due to the hard work of our new webmasters. They are continuing to update and improve the communications with our members. Please feel free to provide any feedback that will help them to improve what you would like to see on the website.

I would like to thank all of those who have been working so hard to improve the section. Please join them in helping to make the section better for all of the members in our area.

Thank you for being a part of the IEEE Mississippi Section.

Sincerely,

Thomas Field, 2026 Chair
