Chapter Officers

Chapter Chair: Dr. Michael A. Ramalho  

Dr. Ramalho is a prolific inventor with over 50 issued patents spanning signal processing, communications theory and data networking. He has worked in a variety of engineering, applied research and management roles for Bell Labs, Telcordia, Cisco Systems and as Chief Telephony Technologist for an early VoIP startup.

He has participated in many IEEE activities including serving as ICC 1992 Technical Program Committee Vice-Chair and as GlobeCom 1988 Technical Program Committee Member.

His volunteer work includes board participation in educational settings (Rutgers CAIP Industrial Advisory Board) and startups (Red Shift Company) in addition to serving as the outside advisor for Ph.D. candidates. He looks forward to working with Paul Belussi, the SP/COM Vice Chair, to facilitate networking with students and professors in the greater Tampa Bay area.

Chapter Vice-Chair: Paul A. Belussi

Paul Belussi is the Southeast S&CS application engineer for communications at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (SEL). Paul specializes in Time Division Multiplexing (TDM), Synchronous Optical Networks (SONET), RF Radios, and Ethernet transport systems. Prior to joining SEL in 2013, Paul worked at Duke Energy as an IT & Telecom transport engineer. Paul has held numerous positions with several nationwide service providers designing and implementing communication networks.

Paul is an active senior member of IEEE Region 3 and Vice-Chair of the Signal Processing & Communications Society Joint Chapter. As a chapter vice chair, he desires to connect the members of IEEE for the common good of sharing those ideas that can trigger new technology solutions and develop great business relationships among professionals.
