As a bonus we will have a 2 hour presentation on Grounding and Bounding where we will explore the confluence of legacy and new technologies and find meaningful and practical ways of accommodating the latest Smart Grid communications requirements, building for reliability, in our substations.
Smart Grid requires the deployment of advanced communications systems that may require some combination of RF/wireless, fiber, and leased copper services in order to route data from field locations to data processing centers. One key for reliable installations of equipment in the substation control house is an understanding of grounding and bonding techniques for communications equipment and circuits that may not be “Substation Hardened”.
