IEEE JRACS & Section Tour of NASA/MSFC 3D Printing Facility

The IEEE Huntsville Sections showcases local government, corporate and educational facilities to share knowledge and the advancement of technology. This Section Tour will be limited to the first 30 guests to respond. Summary:  The MSFC Additive Manufacturing Lab has been around for about 20 years. During that time we have evaluated AM machines and AM processes as they become available. In the last few years we have concentrated mostly on Selective Laser Melting (SLM) Technology and are working toward certifying the SLM process to be used on an industrial scale. They also support In-Space Manufacturing and are awaiting the return of the first parts (ABS plastic) built in space on board the ISS. We are also working toward certifying the Filament Deposition Modeling (FDM) process to be used during long duration exploration missions.
