AESS, Young Professionals, and JCAM Presentation: Ultra-Wideband Radar Lecture and Demo (7/23/2014)

Mr. Brandon Dewberry, Chief Technology Officer for the Time Domain Corporation will deliver a technical lecture and demonstration of ultra-wideband radar on Wednesday 23 July 2014 at the Dynetics Solutions Complex. Please join us for lunch ($10) and the opportunity to see this radar in operation.

Please RSVP by noon on Wednesday 16 July to charlene.neely@dynetics.com, and include citizenship status.

11:00 – 11:15: Lunch and IEEE social

11:15 – 12:00: Technical lecture and demonstration

Presentation Abstract:

The Ultra Wideband Radar under study emits a series of short pulses (on the order of 1 nanosecond) with coherent integration and equivalent time sampling to directly record the time progression of pulse response.  These short, impulsive bursts of energy in time instantaneously fill a broad power spectrum across frequency, thus the name “Ultra Wideband”.  Mr. Dewberry will provide an interactive demonstration of real-time FCC-legal short-range radar operation while describing the basis signal, front-end processing, and back-end filters typically used for simple operation.  An overview of advanced configurations and applications will follow, including radar mesh for security, vehicle collision avoidance, and through-wall detection utilizing synthetic and/or real aperture arrays.
