The UAHuntsville Charger IEEE Student Branch hosted their Spring ’10 Open House Event on Wednesday, February 10th at the Electrical & Computer Engineering Building room 141. These open house events are held every semester to introduce potential new members to IEEE and our UAHuntsville branch.

Typically, the week preceding the Open House is spent giving class presentations to several freshman and sophomore EE/CPE classes. The faculty of UAHuntsville has been very helpful with scheduling times for the club to speak to their classes. During these presentations, current members give students a brief overview of the activities and projects the club is currently working on. The speakers also talk about the social networking and educational benefits of IEEE membership. Finally, we open the floor for questions from the students.

This semester’s Open House was a great success with about 25 potential new members in attendance. We discussed several topics:

The event was concluded with a informal meet-and-greet over pizza and soft drinks.  This was a great opportunity to meet some new students and introduce all of you to our club.  Thanks to everyone who joined us.  We hope to see you at our next meetings!
