Educational Activities Committee

Dear STEM Committee Members,
A good first step is to make contact with the science and math faculty at your neighborhood schools and find out what their specific needs are.  These might include mentoring, tutoring, and giving presentations on careers in science, math, and engineering.

There are a number of existing statewide programs that we can participate in as volunteers.  MATHCOUNTS is a statewide math competition that recruits volunteers to serve as test proctors and graders.

Many high schools have robotics clubs that build robots and enter regional and national competitions.  We can support them by providing both technical assistance and financial support to enable students to attend competitions.

IEEE ENCS can work jointly with other engineering societies to sponsor STEM events.  In the past, we have participated in events as part of Engineers Week, which takes place in February.  Some of the groups we have partnered with in the past include Professional Engineers of North Carolina (PENC) and ASME.
