Kent Green

Kent is an experienced engineering professional and educator. Currently designing automated industrial equipment for small integrators and manufacturers. Also, he has taught various electrical & electronics evening classes in the North Carolina Community College System. Experience includes engineering: machine design, automation, and low-voltage switchgear. IEEE VOLUNTEER POSITIONS: Newsletter Editor (2017), Vice Chair (2017-2020, 2023-2024)

Vice Chair

Stan Simms

Stan R. Simms graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in electrical engineering degree, The Georgia Institute of Technology with a M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Colorado University at Boulder with a M.E. in Engineering Management. He has been a design engineer and electrical engineering manager in the Medium Voltage Control Assemblies business for EATON in Asheville North Carolina USA since 2010. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and belongs to the Industrial Applications Society. He is an EATON certified Black Belt in Design for Six Sigma. He is an inventor on several patents with several pending. He has in excess of twenty years of engineering experience primarily in solid-state power conversion and motor control.

Teresa Matthews

Teresa is a technical professional specializing in Industrial & Engineering Management. Experienced with fast-paced, demanding environments requiring strong organizational, technical, and interpersonal skills. Dependable, detail-oriented, self-driven, analytical, multi-tasker. Retired Military – US Navy (24 years Active Duty, 3 years Drilling Reserves).
She was WNC Section Secretary (2013 -2015, 2024), and Student Activities Chair (2011-2015, 2022-Present

Highly accomplished systems engineering manager and technology executive with many years of comprehensive experience in a variety of industries including energy, healthcare, defense, aerospace, automotive, plastics, consulting, education/training, and non-profit. Current listing on IEEE USA Consultants Network. Past IEEE officer roles include IEEE WNC Secretary (2005-2006, 2021-2023), Vice-Chair (2006-2007), Chair (2020-2021), WNC-LCN Chair (2010-2020), IEEE Stds Volunteer (2012-Present), IEEE NC Council Vice-Chair/Secretary/Treasurer (2020-Present), WNC Section Chair 2023-2024, IEEE SoutheastCon 2025 Treasurer.

Charles Lord

Charles Lord, PE, HKN is a consultant, professional trainer, and speaker in embedded systems development. Through his company, Blue Ridge Advanced Design and Automation, he provides both live and web-based training. As a long-term IEEE volunteer, he has served as chair of the Eastern NC Section as well as the NC Council and has served on numerous IEEE committees including Region 3 Leadership Development and the MGA Center for Leadership Development.
