Breakthrough in Micro Robot Speed and Miniaturization Technology

Researchers at Washington State University have developed the smallest, lightest, and fastest, fully functional microrobots. As reported during the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society’s International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, these two insect-like robots, the mini-bug weighs about 8 milligrams and the water strider weighs 55 milligrams and both move about six millimeters per second.
