Toyota’s Solid-State Battery Set to Revolutionize the EV Industry in 2024

Toyota is set to revolutionize the electric vehicle (EV) industry with its new solid-state battery technology with a staggering 750-mile range and a full charging time of just 10 minutes.

Solid-state batteries eliminate the highly volatile and flammable liquid electrolyte greatly enhancing the safety of the battery and are less prone to leakage, overheating, and the associated risk of fire. They also have high energy density with the ability to store more energy in the same size space. In addition, solid-state batteries are expected to have a longer life span and better durability than lithium-ion batteries which could translate to more sustained performance and longevity which would result in reducing the need for battery replacement and lowering ownership cost. While Toyota plans on introducing this new technology as early as 2024, the high cost of manufacturing solid-state batteries will delay the widespread adoption of this technology until the end of the decade.
