Please join us for a seminar on “Integration of Distributed Energy Resources into Electricity Markets” on Friday, August 20 2021 at 7:00 P.M. EDT (23:00 UTC), presented by Dr. Linquan Bai and hosted by the IEEE Eastern North Carolina Section Young Professionals. Here is a brief description on the topics to be discussed at this seminar. The rapid growth of diverse distributed energy resources (DERs) at grid edge such as rooftop photovoltaics (PVs), smart buildings, and electric vehicles is transforming the traditional centralized power grid management to a decentralized, bottom-up and localized control paradigm. This seminar will introduce market-driven mechanisms and approaches to managing large amounts of small-scale DERs and enabling DERs to provide grid services. A distribution market framework and distribution locational marginal pricing (DLMP) will be introduced. Dr. Bai will also present the models for the participation of DERs in wholesale markets to provide energy and ancillary services, and the coordination of distribution and wholesale markets with high penetration of DERs. Date: Friday, August 20 Time: 7:00pm – 8:00pm EDT Speaker: Dr. Linquan Bai (Assistant Professor with the University of North Carolina at Charlotte) Seminar Link: https://meet.google.com/yij-msmv-wat Speaker(s): Dr. Linquan Bai, Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/279770
