Qubit Circuit Advances by MIT Brings Quantum Error Correction Closer to a Reality

In order for quantum computers to be able to solve complex problems beyond today’s most powerful supercomputers, quantum versions of error codes must be able to account for computational errors faster than they occur.

MIT researchers have overcome this roadblock by demonstrating a novel superconducting qubit architecture that can perform operations between qubits — the building blocks of a quantum computer — with much greater accuracy than scientists have previously been able to achieve.
