This is your Monthly Member Communication – August 2022 Edition

Greetings Region 3,

Well, everyone it’s officially back-to-school season.  Whether it is today or within the next 2 weeks, all the students are getting started in their “New Normal” routines. IEEE Local Sections should be connecting with their student chapters to host socials, and meet-n-greets with the YPs, and other introductory technical meetings.  Engaging with our local pipeline of engineers is the best way to share technology and innovations.  Please take a look below at what’s upcoming in our Region.  All Sections have been challenged to start posting photos of their live events on our social media platforms and the Region 3 website, located at:  https://r3.ieee.org/

Announcements:

IEEE Industry Relations Platform (IRP)

In 2021, a CRM-type platform for this reason (called IEEE Industry Relations Platform or IRP), funded by the IEEE New Initiatives Committee. This year, the plan is to get a group of users to pilot the IRP for various industry engagement activities and provide feedback to help us determine how useful/valuable a tool the IRP is. The type of volunteers we need are folks working in industry; have continuously engaged with industry for various reasons on behalf of the Section/Region; worked on or developed industry-relevant products, services and programs for IEEE; have one time or another held an IEEE industry volunteer position.

On behalf of Patrick Russoniello and Subodha Charles, they would greatly appreciate it if you could share this invite and/or recommend volunteers within Region 3 to be a part of the pilot user group this year. We would benefit greatly from your/their expertise and guidance as we build out the platform. They estimated only 8 hours of time for the whole pilot experience. Below are three main expectations during the pilot process:

  1. Review the user resource guide and videos to understand the IRP capabilities
  2. Add information from your current industry engagement activities and projects related to your Section/Region
  3. Fill out a survey to give feedback about your experience

The target is to get 100 users for the pilot this year and appreciate your support. For more information, contact s.charles@ieee.org and p.russoniello@ieee.org
